MIRPURKHAS, April 14: Hundreds of residents staged a demonstration outside the public health engineering department office on Wednesday to protest against the non-supply of water to the town for two days. The protestors raised slogans against the officials concerned.
Sources told this correspondent that the public health department had been forced for the last two days to suspended water supply to the town due to water rotation system.
There was no water in Satellite Town, Panhwar colony, Rahimabad, Bhansinghabad, Baloch paro, Walkart road, Nawab Ahmadani, Hameedpur colony, Khad Plot, Hirabad, Azizabad, Lalchandabad, Gharibabad, Adam Town, New Town, Khar Paro and Rahim Nagar.
Officials said water had been released for the city after intervention of higher officials and water supply would improve within two days. The irrigation department sources said that the department had informed the public health department regarding the water rotations system.
INQUIRY: The chairman of the Sindh Irrigation Drainage Authority has directed the executive engineer Jamrao division and SDO irrigation Kot Ghulam Mohammad sub-division to conduct an inquiry into complaints of area growers against irrigation officials for allegedly cultivating over 300 acres agriculture lands after developing a breach in the Jamrao canal near Kot Ghulam Muhammad town.
A grower, Mehfooz Kaimkhani, complained that officials of the irrigation Jamrao division were involved in the cultivation of agriculture lands at Jamrao canal.
KILLED: A resident of Mithi was killed in a road accident near Ghulam Mohammad Arain village on the Mirwah-Mirpurkhas road on Tuesday.
