KARACHI, April 14: A meeting, chaired by the City Nazim, Naimatullah Khan, reviewed the pace of work on development projects of Annual Development Programme, mega projects and Khushhal Pakistan Programme on Tuesday night.
The meeting was attended by DCO Karachi Mir Hussain Ali, EDOs of different departments, coordinator to City Nazim Salim Azhar and other officials of the CDGK. The meeting was informed that construction work on FTC flyover would be completed by June 2004 whereas work on underpass of FTC, which is first of its kind in Pakistan is also under way.
Development work on Allama Rashid Turabi Road, North Nazimabad Road and road from Stadium to Drive-in Chowrangi is also in progress whereas construction work on Karsaz Road, Kala Board and Shahrah-i-Orangi would start soon.
The meeting was informed that heavy traffic would pass through outside the city after the completion of Northern Bypass and Lyari Expressway, which would ease traffic flow on city roads.
The meeting decided that the contractors who would be unable to complete the work in scheduled time would be blacklisted. Besides schemes pertaining to health, education and information technology were also discussed in detail.
The City Nazim, Naimatullah Khan, directed that allocated budgets for different projects be utilized before the end of fiscal year and schemes be completed immediately.
"Construction work on Karachi Medical and Dental College and other educational institutions should be completed immediately besides all material be purchased through committees", he stressed. The meeting also discussed affairs of Abbasi Shahid Hospital and the City Nazim directed that the sewerage system of ASH be improved and Sui gas be immediately resolved. -PPI
