RAJANPUR: Potable water being sold

Published April 14, 2004

RAJANPUR, April 13: Shortage of potable water at Pachhad is forcing people to shift to other areas. The locals get water from canals for all purposes because the underground water is brackish. Owing to the shortage of canal water, a canister of potable water is being sold for Rs20. The cattle are facing equal trouble.

It is feared that many areas of the district may face drought if the canals are not filled. As a majority of people here do not afford water at such a high price, they have demanded of the officials concerned to make arrangements for the provision of water without delay.

SHOT DEAD: A labourer was shot dead by some members of the Bugti clan over rivalry on Tuesday. Reports said Mehndum Khan and his brother Marha, along with some other men, were loading sand in their tractor when Ali Nawaz Bugti of the rival clan reached there with 10 armed men and opened fire on the labourers.

As a result, Marha died instantly. Meanwhile, Muhammad Yousaf was taking his ailing mother for her treatment when some armed men shot him dead. The motive behind the incident was stated to be enmity.
