DERA ISMAIL KHAN, May 19: The local police foiled an attempted robbery and forced bandits to flee, leaving behind the looted belongings of Saif-ur-Rehman, resident of Tariqabad, on Saturday.

Six dacoits broke into the house of Saif early in the morning when family members were fast asleep.

After blindfolding the family, the dacoits took away a motorcycle, colour TV, gold ornaments, a pistol, Rs20,000, and escaped in a Datsun.

Saif-ur-Rehman called Rescue-15 on a neighbourhood phone and the police arrived within moments. The Saddar police were also informed and a chase started.

Panicking, the dacoits left all the looted material on the roadside near Sikandar Town on Dera-Tank Road.
