GUJRANWALA, April 7: An alleged land grabber was arrested from the court of district and sessions judge on Wednesday on the charge of capturing state land and producing a fake stay order.
Akram grabbed a piece of city tehsil council land near children's park worth million of rupees and started construction on it. When the city tehsil council tried to demolish the structure, he produced a fake stay order of a court.
Later, the civil court dismissed his case and he went to sessions court in an appeal. He was present in the court when the judge ordered his arrest. The judge also ordered an inquiry against those judicial officials who helped the alleged land grabber prepare a fake stay order.
NARCOTICS SEIZED: Police recovered a huge quantity of hashish and opium from a car abandoned by alleged drug runners when it met an accident near Ghakkhar on Wednesday.
Ghakkhar additional SP Waqar Ahmad Chohan told a hurriedly called news conference that the contraband was being carried by a Toyota car having green number plate (LOR-9528). The car skidded off the road, hit the median and stopped. The riders left the narcotics laden vehicle there and escaped.
He said police took the vehicle into custody and recovered 342 kilograms of hashish and one kilogram of opium from the hidden parts of car worth millions of rupees. He said the suspects were carrying another number plate (IDB-8109) which they left in vehicle.
Interestingly, the National Highway and Motorway Police Kharian to Lahore sector incharge, SSP Agha Yousaf, claimed in a separate press briefing that a motorway police patrol seized the narcotics and handed over to Ghakkhar police.
