SIALKOT, April 6: The drivers and conductors of various public transport vehicles on Tuesday blocked Sialkot-Sambrial-Wazirabad Road for about one hour by parking their buses and wagons near the Government Boys Islamic College, Sambrial, in Daska tehsil.

They were protesting against the students of the college who had broken the windowpanes and windscreens of various buses and wagons in the morning. The protesters dispersed after the assurance by local administration that legal action would be taken against the accused.

The college management has also started an inquiry into the incidence. Students said the transporters did not accommodate them and also misbehaved with them. Sambrial police are investigating

RE-POLL: Residents of a union council of Sialkot tehsil would again cast their vote at four polling stations on Wednesday (today). Arrangements have been finalized for the re-polling for the post of Nazim of the Hundal union council.

The district returning officer had ordered re-poll in Partaanwali, Hundal, Kot Kora and Bhoaneywali polling stations of the union council after a shootout among the activists of rival groups during the March 28 by election. Sialkot DPO Nisar Ahmad Saroya told newsmen on Tuesday that security had been beefed up at the four polling stations.
