MIRPURKHAS, April 6: Better relations between Bar and bench are vital for the smooth functioning of the judicial system, says Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court Justice Saiyed Saeed Ashhad.
He said this during a function held after the foundation laying ceremony of the court building here. The double-storey building will be constructed at a cost of Rs18.7 million in the premises of the Mirpurkhas district and sessions court Mirpurkhas.
Judge of the Sindh High Court Justice Attaur Rehman, district and sessions Judge Mohammad Iqbal Arain, DCO Mohammad Siddique Memon, DPO Mohammad Amin Yousufzai and judges of different courts and lawyers were also present on the occasion.
The Sindh High Court chief justice said that the new building would house courts of district and sessions judge, senior civil judge and the judicial magistrate, while a large bar room, a library, and facility of a judicial lock up would also be provided.
Later, speaking at a reception organized by the District Bar Association, Justice Saiyed Saeed Ashhad assured lawyers that their grievances would be redressed. Earlier, general secretary of the District Bar Association Zafar Laghari highlighted problems being faced by lawyers.
UNKNOWN DISEASE: Dozens of buffaloes have been affected by an unknown disease in the Mirpurkhas taluka, Abdul Ghafoor Maher, vice-president of the Mirpurkhas chapter of the Sindh Abadgar Board said here on Tuesday.
Criticizing the non-availability of medicines at the local veterinary hospitals, he said that doctors concerned were unable to diagnose the disease. He said that if the disease was not controlled, owners of the buffaloes would sustain heavy losses.
He urged the authorities concerned to take appropriate action, ensure adequate supply of medicines at local veterinary hospitals besides calling for providing proper treatment to the affected animals.
