ISLAMABAD, April 5: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Monday expressed optimism about a reduction in wheat price by 2.5 per cent as a result of an expected bumper wheat crop in the country. This optimism was expressed during the ECC meeting presided over by Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz.

According to ECC sources, the likely increase in the production of wheat would stabilize prices and ensure availability of sufficient wheat throughout the year. It expected that the wheat output will be in the vicinity of 20 to 20.5 million tons this year.
