ISLAMABAD, April 1: A 12-member Ugandan trade delegation led by Madam Cecilia Ogwal, Member of Parliament of Uganda, on Thursday sought the help of the Government of Pakistan and Pakistani businessmen to help their new generation make their country a better place for economic activity.

During a meeting with the BoI chairman, Waseem Haqqie, here, Ms Ogwal said Uganda had vast tracts of fertile land and there were tremendous opportunities in the field of agriculture especially for cotton seed improvement and production of good quality cotton. She said though her country was poor, it was rich in resources.

"We offer attractive packages to the investors including tax holidays and land availability. Tourism and wildlife sector can be explored to the mutual benefit of both the countries," she said.

The BOI chairman briefed the delegation on the economic development in Pakistan during the last 3-4 years and positive macro-economic indicators due to the policies being pursued by the government.

Waseem Haqqie said Pakistan had a huge resource base of oil and gas and the presence of 600 foreign companies in Pakistan proved that it was a nice place for investment.

He thanked the Government of Uganda for providing free-of- cost space for display of Pakistani products in Uganda. The delegation visited Lahore, Gujranwala and Gujrat and met with Pakistani businessmen.
