UK naval chief meets president

ISLAMABAD, March 18: First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff Royal British Navy, Admiral Sir Alan West, called on President General Pervez Musharraf, Chairman Joint Chief's of Staff Committee Gen Aziz Khan and Naval chief Admiral Shahid Karimullah, here on Thursday.

During the meeting at the Naval Headquarters, Admiral West and Admiral Karimullah decided to expand the existing cooperation between the two forces. The decision to expand the cooperation was taken during a meeting between the two Naval chiefs to review the existing state of cooperation between the Royal British Navy and the Pakistan Navy.

Admiral West also attended a briefing on the present regional maritime scenario vis a vis Pakistan Navy's role. Earlier, on his arrival at the Naval Headquarters, a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Navy clad in ceremonial dress presented him the Guard of Honour.

Admiral Karimullah then introduced the visiting dignitary to the principal staff officers of Pakistan Navy. Later, accompanied by Admiral Karimullah, Admiral West called on President Musharraf and discussed matters of mutual interest.
