SAHIWAL, Feb 29: Three people, including a former councillor, were killed while four others sustained injuries in two road accidents here on Sunday.

A speeding car (BNA-1632), going to Kot Dewan from Vehari, overturned while saving a donkey cart on Burewala-Arifwala Road near Chak 24-EB.

Former councillor Wajahat Khan, his son Mubashar Khan (14) were killed instantly while his wife Wajna Khan, Samia Khan, Rabia Khan and Rafia Khan suffered injuries. They were admitted to a local hospital.

Police have registered a case. On the GT Road near Chak 113/12-L, a speeding bus (LRC-5449) knocked down and killed a man standing along the roadside. Muhammad Hussain died on the spot.

HOUSE LOOTED: Unidentified men on Saturday night looted a house in Imamia Colony after serving the family members with intoxicants.

A woman came to the house of Ismatullah and engaged his wife Surraya in talks while she was preparing tea for the family members. Taking an opportunity, the woman allegedly mixed some intoxicant in the tea. After taking the tea, Surraya, her daughter Tahira (19), sons Zafar (24) and Athar (16), Sumaira and Naseem (14) fainted.

Later, the woman and her accomplices entered the house, collected the valuables and disappeared. They were admitted to the hospital where the condition of Sumaira, Surraya and Zafar was said to be serious. City police have registered a case.

BODY FOUND: Police on Sunday recovered the body of a 20-year-old girl from the Lower Bari Doab Canal. Some unidentified person(s) killed the girl and then threw the body into the canal. Sadar police have registered a case and are investigating.
