RAWALPINDI, Feb 29: A man shot dead his 18-year-old sister for honour in a village of Sihala, while two persons were burnt after falling into an boiling oil pan near Faizabad on Sunday.

In the first incident, Ghosia Rafiq was shot dead by her brother, Tahir Iqbal, who suspected that the girl had developed illicit relations with a boy. The accused escaped from the scene.

Meanwhile, Sultan and Khizar Ishtiaq were burnt critically after they fell into a boiling oil pan at a shop near Faizabad. Khalid, a relative of Sultan, told Dawn that Sultan was fixing a sugar cane machine while Khizar was helping him when the machine tumbled and fell into a pan which was containing boiling oil. As a result, they sustained burns on their faces and were shifted to Pims.

ACCIDENT: A pedestrian was run over by a speeding passenger coach near Tarnol. Mohammad Aslam was crossing the road when the coach (RPT- 6365) coming from Peshawar knocked him down. He died on the spot.

A reporter adds from Islamabad: A 22-year-old youth attempted suicide by taking a heavy dose of medicine here on Sunday evening, sources in the Federal Government Services Hospital (FGSH) said.

The victim identified as Mohammad Rizwan, 22, a resident of Sector G-7/-4, attempted suicide at his house by taking a heavy dose of medicines. He was taken to the FGSH in critical condition. A relative of Mr Rizwan told the doctors that he took the medicine accidentally.
