MIRPURKHAS, Feb 24: Three chairmen of local Zakat committees of the Kot Ghulam Mohammad taluka have been remanded in judicial custody on the order of the special judge, Anti-Corruption Court, Hyderabad.

The accused, Anwar Hussain, Miral Baloch and Mohammad Afzal, were apprehended by the Anti-Corruption Establishment, Mirpurkhas, after their warrants of arrests were issued by the court.

The Mirpurkhas ACE officials produced them in the court which remanded them in judicial custody. The ACE had registered a case against the Zakat committees' chairmen for alleged misappropriation of sewing machines.

ADP: An amount of Rs37 million has been allocated under the Annual Development Programme for citizens' community boards of the district.

This was stated by District Nazim Pir Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani while presiding over a meeting that reviewed schemes proposed by the community boards. He advised chairmen of community boards to deposit 20 per cent amount of estimated costs of their schemes in the district government account by March 5 otherwise the schemes would not be accepted.
