World Bank team calls on president

ISLAMABAD, Feb 20: The vice-president of World Bank, South Asia Region, Praful Patel, congratulated President Gen Pervez Musharraf and the government of Pakistan on the achievements on economic front and structural reforms , successful completion of the Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper and confidence of international investors in the Eurobond issue.

Mr Patel called on the President here on Friday and discussed with him ways in which the World Bank could support Pakistan's development strategy, particularly in the infrastructure sector.

He earlier met Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz and congratulated him on the impressive achievements on the macro- economic front, banking reforms and in overseeing the preparation of the PRSP. The minister also briefed Mr Patel on the upcoming Pakistan Development Forum.
