LAHORE, Feb 18: No clue was found on Wednesday to the murder of Dawn staffer Sheharyar Safir. Mr Safir, 28, a marketing executive, was found injured in his car parked along the road in Faisal Town. A police patrol took the injured man to the Jinnah Hospital where he died from profuse bleeding.

A person, who helped policemen shift the injured man to the hospital, said before being taken to the operation theatre he had murmured that there were two men on a motorcycle. Doctors said he was shot in the abdomen.

However, neither the car nor were his belongings, including the wallet and a cell phone, taken away by the killer(s). "We are working along different lines," Investigation police SP Chaudhry Sultan said, and added no evidence had so far been found which could help the police in the case.

"We are clueless as there is no apparent motive so far." The SP said the police had not yet visited the family for gathering information. "We want the family to be stable," he said. Meanwhile, Mr Safir was buried in a local graveyard after funeral prayers. He was the only son of his parents.
