KARACHI, Feb 12: A middle-aged man died in road accident on Thursday. Police said that Khanan, 40, was crossing a Steel Town link road when he was knocked down by a passenger vehicle. The victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after the accident while the errant driver escaped. The victim's body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem examination.

ARRESTED: Police arrested two armed suspects after a chase in Gadap while three of their accomplices managed to escape under the cover of darkness on Thursday evening.

Gadap Town Police Officer Ahmed Khan Jamali told Dawn that five young men had boarded a Karachi-bound bus from Hyderabad on Thursday. When the bus reached near Nooriabad, they took all other passengers hostage at gunpoint and started collecting valuables.

TPO Gadap said that some of the passengers informed the "15" about the incident. A patrolling police party chased the suspects and arrested two of the suspects while their accomplices managed to escape.

"Due to the night-fall, police called off their search," the TPO said and added that two pistols were recovered from the possession of the suspects.
