MMA meeting in Islamabad next week

LAHORE, Feb 11: A summit meeting of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) will be held in Islamabad next week, alliance's acting president Qazi Husain Ahmad told reporters here on Wednesday.

He said the proposed dates for the meeting were Feb 18, 19 and 20, however, a final decision in this regard would be taken after consulting other heads of MMA's component parties.

He said the alliance was ready to requisition National Assembly's session for an open discussion on nuclear and other national issues. However, it needed signatures of 20 more MNAs on the requisition plea as it had only 68 members in the house, he said.

He said Tehrik-i-Insaaf president Imran Khan had phoned him for requisitioning the NA session, and he (the Qazi) had asked him to secure signatures of 20 more MNAs for the purpose.
