DADU, Feb 10: Consumers of gas held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Tuesday against Sui Southern Gas Company officials for suspending gas supply to different towns of the district and issuing inflated bills.

They were led by Sita Road Union Council Nazim Ali Mohammad Soomro, Dadu town councillors Bashir Ahmad Bhatti and Raja Memon and others. Meanwhile, speaking at a press conference, the consumers complained that the SSGC suspended gas supply to Dadu, Phulji, Piaro Goth, Sita Road, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Radhan, Thariri Mohabbat, Mehar, Johi, Khudabad, Bhan Saeedabad and Sehwan towns for eight to nine hours daily.

They said the SSGC officials provided gas to hotels, factories and influential persons illegally and to cover the losses, they closed the supply of gas to poor consumers. They accused the officials of demanding bribe from the consumers, who were sent inflated bills on refusal to pay them the money.

INJURED: Three persons, Nadir Ali, Liaquat Ali and Khan Leghari, were injured when a rickshaw overturned at the railway crossing here on Tuesday. The injured were taken to Dadu Civil Hospital.
