Published February 9, 2004

FAISALABAD, Feb 8: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Standing Committee on Industries chairman Mian Zahid Anwar has called for making efforts to save the industrial sector from consequences following free trade under SAFTA agreement.

Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, he demanded that the government should immediately convene a meeting of policy-makers of finance, commerce and industries with representatives of trade bodies to discuss in detail fears in the wake of implementation of SAFTA agreement.

He said that none of government functionaries had taken into confidence industrial, commercial, manufacturing and trading sectors over the issue.
