FAISALABAD: Horse show ends

FAISALABAD, Feb 8: As many as 100 teams of riders took part in competitions of tent-pegging and horse dances on the last day of the National Horse Show here on Sunday.

Thousands of people belonging to different parts of the city and the adjoining districts participated in the show, which was organized by the Faisalabad Horse Riding Association at the University of Agriculture.

Mehmoodia Haideria Club of Khushab, Royal Club Gujrat, National Club Sargodha, Pindi Ghazi Club, Aqab Haideri Club, Dolat Shah Club, Faisalabad Riding Club, National Club of Mandi Bahaudin, Tiwana Tent-Pegging Club and Magoon Club were adjudged the top 10 teams of the tournament.

In the tent-pegging singles' contest, Sardar Shaukat Khan Baloch of the National Club Sargodha was declared the winner while Ghulam Rasool Sarwar of the National Club Mandi Bahaudin and Malik Arshad of the Royal Club Gujrat clinched second and third positions.

In the section competition, Dolat Shah Club of Jhang secured the first position, Pindi Ghazi Club of Rawalpindi the second position and Shaheen Club the third position. City Nazim Mumtaz Ali Cheema distributed prizes among the winners.

CRIME SCENE: Incidence of dacoity, theft and robbery are on the rise in the Saddar division thanks to poor performance of police patrol and lack of supervision by highups.

Robbers and dacoits made off with thousands of rupees in cash, gold ornaments and a car and a motorcycle in seven strikes in the area of Saddar division during the last 24 hours.

Three masked highwaymen took away a car (LXV-66) of Fiaz Mehmood in Chak 8 JB. Masked dacoits deprived Rana Sagheer of a motorcycle and thousands of rupees in cash in Chak 29JB.

Unidentified thieves decamped with thousands of rupees in cash and electric appliances from the house of Abdul Sattar in Sadhar. Three robbers got away with rice bags worth Rs30,000 from the outhouse of farmer Riaz Husain in Tandlianwala.

Armed bandits snatched thousands of rupees in cash and gold ornaments from motorcyclist Khalid Nadeem and his wife near Chak 259RB on the Samundri Road.
