QUETTA, Feb 1: Five members of a family were shot dead by their rivals in Nasirabad district on Sunday. Talking to Dawn by phone from Dera Murad Jamali, levies officials stated that four armed men entered the house of Mohammad Pana Lehri in Goth Zahid khan Umrani of Nasirabad district in the wee hours of Sunday and opened firing that resulted in the killing of husband, wife and three children.

The dead were identified as Mohammad Pana, his wife whose name could not be ascertained, Mashuk Ali (10), Gul Nisa (5), and an infant Dilbar Khan. They were later buried in a local graveyard.

The levies officials said the paramilitary force raided a few places and arrested one of the attackers, Rahjan Lehri, while his three other accomplices fled across the Sindh border.

The official sources claimed that the cause of killing was 15-year-old enmity between Mohammad Pana and the attackers over the marriage of former's wife.
