MIRPURKHAS, Jan 23: Police arrested over one hundred Afghan nationals during the crackdown on illegal immigrants in the district. Only seventeen among them were booked by the town police under the Foreigners Act and 109 PPC. Hundreds of Afghan nationals are staying at different hotels of the district but the police only raided two inns and avoided to arrest many others.

STUDENTS ADVISED: Sindh Assembly Speaker Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah has advised students to give their full attention to their studies so that they could make themselves exemplary citizens of the country.

Speaking after the inauguration of a library at the Mohammadi medical college on Thursday, he said there was a need of service and hard work in the education and health sectors.

He lauded the services of Dr H. M. A. Drago and Dr Adeebul Hassan Rizvi and advised the young doctors to serve the poor people. The college principal Dr Hassan Memon said the first team of 50 doctors of the college had passed their MBBS course.

SCHEMES: Under the annual development programme 2003-4, a sum of Rs39 million will be spent on different development schemes in the district. This was stated by DCO Mohammad Siddiq Memon at a meeting of the district development committee here on Tuesday, which was attended by District Naib Nazim Younus Talpur, the works and services EDO and the agriculture and works committee chairman.
