Brand name 'Pakistan'

KARACHI, Jan 23: Acting President Mohammadmian Soomro has urged the participants of the Marketing Congress 2004 to propagate the brand name Pakistan.

He was addressing the inaugural session of the MARCON Pakistan here at a hotel on Thursday. Mr Soomro, who is also the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, was of the view that such a task should be taken upon as a national obligation as it was also essential for survival in the comity of nations.

On the occasion, he also emphasized the significance of the role of the marketing personnel for the promotion of any good product as well as the concept.

The acting president said that any investor whether local or foreign, takes into consideration the infrastructure, availability and cost of labour, the input and the productivity ratio, utility tariffs and security.

Earlier, the President of the Marketing Association of Pakistan (MAP), Masood Hashmi, in his welcome address explained the objectives of the MARCON 2004- a prized event of his organization. Dr Mushtaq Khan, Chief Economist of Citibank Dubai, also spoke on the occasion.-APP
