HYDERABAD, Jan 22: A student of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, was injured when he was fired upon by two outsiders in the university premises on Thursday.

The final year MBBS student, Asif, was sitting in the veranda of the anatomy department when he was attacked by the two persons and tortured. When he tried to resist, he was fired upon.

The assailants escaped. Classmates of Asif took him to the Liaquat University Hospital where he was provided emergency treatment and then shifted to the Hyderabad Civil Hospital. His condition is said to be stable.

Following the attack on Asif, the students boycotted their classes and held a protest demonstration. A heavy contingent of the police was deployed at the campus.
