HYDERABAD, Jan 20: Sindh received first rain of the winter season on Tuesday which started early in the morning and continued intermittently throughout the day, causing a substantial drop in temperature.

In Hyderabad, Kotri, Tando Mohammad Khan and other neighbouring areas, weather remained cloudy throughout the day. From early morning till afternoon, power supply continued to play hide and seek in Hyderabad city.

All the roads and streets were filled with slime and became slippery. In the rural areas, the farmers heaved a sigh of relief as the shower is expected to have a salutary effect on the wheat crop.

Sindh Abadgar Board leader Dr Zulfiqar Yousfani said that the good thing about the rain was that it was not heavy otherwise the crops would have been adversely affected.

BADIN: Severe cold spell has gripped Badin district since Monday evening. The district also received first light winter rainfall with cold winds which forced the people to remain indoors. The city roads offered a deserted look due to cold wave.

MIRPURKHAS: Rain hit Mirpurkhas and its outskirts, intensifying the cold wave. Since the first drop of rain in the morning, power supply was suspended which also resulted in suspension of water supply. Power supply was restored after nine hours.

NAWABSHAH: Nawabshah, Daur, Bandhi, Doulatpur, Qazi Ahmed, Jam Saheb, Sakrand and surrounding areas received rain on Tuesday. Weather became pleasant in the city and people came out on roads and enjoyed rainfall.

THATTA: Thatta district received mild shower on Tuesday intensifying cold spell. Trade and other routine activities remained dull.

DADU: Different parts of Dadu district including Kotri, Jamshoro, Sann, Manjhand, Sehwan, Bhan Saeedabad, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Johi, Dadu and Mehar received rain on Tuesday. Transport, electricity and telephone system remained disturbed in Dadu city and different towns.

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Light rain continued throughout the day in the district on Tuesday. Following rains, the temperate was decreased but the people enjoyed the drizzle

KHAIRPUR: The first rain of winter started here on late Monday night and continued till Tuesday morning, increasing cold. ASI Imtiaz andconstables Abdul Rahman and Zamir Panhiar of the Babarloi police were injured when a police vehicle overturned due to drizzling on Tuesday evening at the National Highway.
