KHAIRPUR, Jan 15: The second additional sessions judge here on Thursday granted a bail of Rs50,000 each to acting District Naib Nazim Shafi Mohammad Chandio, Bukhari union council Nazim Amjad Ali Shah and Shabbir Chandio.

They were arrested following a clash with the Pakistan Muslim League (Functional)-backed rival group at the district council session on Wednesday. The members of the People's Party Parliamentarians-backed Awam Dost Panel received them outside the central jail from where they were brought to the Naib Nazim office.

Earlier, Mr Chandio, Mr Shah and his companion were produced in the court, which sent them to the prison on a seven-days judicial remand. They as well as District Nazim Nafisa Shah are among the 22 people booked on the complaint of a claimant to the post of the Naib Nazim, Nisar Bhambhro.

He claimed in the FIR that the clash at the district council began with an attack carried out by the ADP members at the instance of District Nazim Nafisa Shah. Police had arrested five persons till late night, of whom two are still in police custody.

DIST NAZIM: Meanwhile, Ms Shah, terming the registration of the FIR against her an illegal act, told journalists that she would not seek bail even if she was arrested. She deplored that as usual the police played a partial role in the Wednesday incident.
