FAISALABAD, Jan 15: Chaudhry Muhammad Husain was elected the district bar association president by getting 616 votes against 466 of his rival candidate Rana Muhammad Shahab, here on Thursday.

Mian Javed Iqbal was elected the DBA secretary-general with 694 votes, defeating Javed Iqbal Awan, who bagged 389 votes. Chaudhry Ashiq Husain and Pervez Iqbal Ramay are bar vice-president and joint secretary, respectively.

For the post of finance secretary, Abid Fareedi has already been elected unopposed while Irfan Ashraf has been elected library secretary and Zahid Ali auditor.

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Sahibzada Anwar Hassan Qureshi, who has the support of the Millat Party and the PML-N, won election for the top slot of the local bar association. He has defeated Punjab PML-Q joint secretary Iqbal Saqib.

Advocate Mazhar Aftab was elected vice-president, Ehsan Karim Merani secretary-general, Agha Khalid joint secretary and Iftikhar Abbasi library secretary. It is pertinent to mention that the opposition political parties could not field their candidate for the slot of the president.
