MIRPURKHAS, Jan 12: The Chakki owners here on Monday held protest demonstrations outside the DCO office, press club and district Nazim office against non-provision of wheat quota to them.

They marched on the main roads and raised slogans against the officials of the food department. Speaking on the occasion, Chakki Owners' Association leader Rasheed Talli said the district food officials had denied provision of wheat to them as per their approved quota.

He said Chakkis would be closed in the taluka if wheat was not provided to them. Mr Talli said injustice was committed against them and warned if they were not provided wheat quota in next few days, it would result in flour crisis in the taluka. He called upon the Sindh governor and Sindh chief minister to ensure wheat supply to them according to the quota.

SUICIDE: A youth, Yasin, 18, son of Asghar Ali Arain, a resident of Pitafi colony Kunri, committed suicide by shooting himself from a double barrel gun at his house on Monday. The body was taken to aKunri hospital for autopsy.

SUICIDE ATTEMPT: A detainee at the Town police station, Mohammad Bux Oad, attempted to commit suicide with a sharp chain of his jacket the other day. He was arrested by the police a week back on charges of committing a robbery.
