PESHAWAR, Jan 12: The Jamaat-i-Islami provincial Shoora has demanded immediate steps from the government to provide transportation facilities to the people of Chitral and to start construction work on the Lowari Tunnel on emergency basis.

In a press release issued here on Monday, it also demanded increase in PIA flights to and from Chitral district. The press release said Chitral and its surrounding areas remained cut off from the rest of the country due to heavy snowfall in the winter season. This situation demands that construction work on the Lowari Tunnel be started on emergency basis, it said.

The Jamaat said that additional PIA flights be started to and from Chitral and special C-130 flights should be announced on Eidul Azha for the convenience of the locals.
