KARACHI, Jan 11: Pakistan on Sunday arrested 22 Indian fishermen and impounded their four boats for illegally entering into its territorial waters in the Arabian Sea, officials said.

The Maritime Security Agency of Pakistan arrested the Indian fishermen early Sunday and handed them over to the police, MSA official Shireen Khan told reporters. "They (Indian fishermen) were arrested for fishing inside Pakistani territorial waters," he said.

All 22 would be sent to court for remand on Monday. The MSA has arrested 52 Indian fishermen since November 2003. The coast guards of both countries routinely detain each other's fishermen for straying across maritime borders.-AFP
