PESHAWAR, Jan 2: NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has said that a committee will be formed to review and evaluate the Model University Ordinance for making it an acceptable document to all stakeholders.

He was talking to a delegation of presidents and general secretaries of various organizations of teachers associated with public sector universities on Friday.

The governor said the ordinance was a much-debated document and almost 14 amendments had been made to it during the last three years. It showed that the government was sincere in making it practicable and purposeful, he added.

"We would really appreciate positive response from the teachers community to bring further improvement to the draft (law) and their point of view would definitely be advocated at the concerned forum, especially the Higher Education Commission," the governor assured the delegation headed by Peshawar University Teachers Association president Arbab Khan Afridi.
