KARACHI, Feb 23: St. Patrick School inflicted 58-38 defeat on hosts Habib Public School in the final to win the Inter-school basketball tournament at the latter’s gymnasium the other day.

The tournament was organised in December and the final was deferred due to winter-break in educational institutions followed by holy month of Muharram.

Meanwhile, Habib School held Ghulaman-e-Abbas School to a one-all draw in the last league match to win the Inter-school hockey tournament on better goal average.

The two outfits ended with 13 points apiece in the six-team contest played on single league. Ali Mehdi surged Ghulaman-e-Abbas School ahead in 52nd minute while Mohammad Ali Khan slammed the equaliser eight minutes later.

The BVS Parsi School accumulated nine points to secure the third place.

Waqas Ahmed of Ghulaman-e-Abbas School and Mohammad Ali Khan of the HPS were declared ‘Best Goalkeeper’ and ‘Best Player’ of the tournament.
