KOHAT, Feb 22: Security forces blew up the house of a person accused of attacking army convoy in Darra Adamkhel on Sunday.

Officials said that security forces blew up the house of Sadiq Zaman in Akhorwal area of Sabz Ali Kalley for his alleged relations with Taliban.

They said that he was involved in attacking army vehicle with improvised explosive device in which five soldiers were injured on Friday. Search operations also continued in various parts of Darra Adamkhel on third consecutive day and scores of suspected tribesmen were arrested.

Meanwhile, army continued to attack the suspected hideouts of militants with artillery in Bosti Khel, Tor Chappar and Ammay Kamay along the mountains with Kohat in Darra Adamkhel. The fire started in the wee hours of Sunday.The officials had been claiming that militants were hiding in those areas for the last seven months and launching rocket attacks at Kohat cantonment and Kotal FC checkpost.

Officials said that presence of militants in those areas was a potential threat to the Kohat cantonment, Kotal checkpost and Kohat tunnel.

The tunnel is kept closed from dusk to dawn for traffic since August 2008.

Militants said that they had reached a peace agreement with the government but it was lying in NWFP Governor’s House for approval since last summer.

POLICEMAN KILLED: Unidentified armed persons shot dead a policeman near KDA Township in Kohat on Sunday.

The policeman, Moinullah, a resident of Karak, was coming to City police station for duty in his personal car when unidentified armed persons opened firing on him.

He died instantly. Police cordoned off the entire area but the killers managed to escape after committing the murder.

Jangle Khel police have registered a case against unidentified accused and started investigations.
