RIYADH, Feb 14: King Abdullah on Saturday appointed a woman for the first time to the Saudi cabinet.
In a reshuffle, new ministers were named for the education, justice, information and health departments. The Shura council and the central bank also got new chiefs.
However, the most powerful cabinet positions of oil, defence, interior, finance and foreign affairs remained unchanged.
Ms Norah al-Faiz has been made deputy minister responsible for women’s education.
