QUETTA, Jan 13: On a call given by the Baloch National Front, a strike was observed in several towns of Balochistan on Tuesday in protest against registration of cases against Nawabzada Hairbiyar Marri and Faiz Baloch in the United Kingdom.

BNF spokesman Dr Bashir Azim claimed that a complete strike had been observed in Nushki, Dalbandin, Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, Kharan, Panjgur, Turbat and Sibi. In Dera Murad Jamali and Dera Allahyar, he said, markets were closed.

He said the strike partial in Quetta and shops on Sariab Road, Joint Road, Brewery Road and in Hudda Bazaar and Shahbaz Town were closed.

He said dozens of BNF activists had been arrested in Dera Murad Jamali and Dera Allahyar after recent attacks on trains.

He demanded withdrawal of cases registered by London police against Hairbiyar Marri and Faiz Baloch.

He said military operations and arrests would not suppress the political movement for protecting the resources and the coast of Balochistan.
