UMERKOT, Jan 11: A joint investigation team of Sanghar and Umerkot districts continued raids on different villages of Rajar and Mangrio communities to arrest the accused involved in the murder of local PPP leader Ismail Chopan.

During the raids in Moula Bux Rajar village near Dhoronaro, Dean of Arts Faculty, University of Sindh, Professor Allah Wassayo Rajar, was taken in custody by Khipro police. He was shifted to Khipro police station.

However, Prof Rajar was released later and four people — Sikandar, Hanif, Sawal and Ibrahim, all brothers — were produced before SP investigation Sanghar by the notables. They were arrested.

It was learnt that at the time of raid on the Moula Bux Rajar village enraged women also pelted police mobiles with stones.

Sources claimed more arrests but the SP investigation Sanghar denied any other arrest except that of Prof Allah Wassayo Rajar.

Meanwhile, a delegation of PML-F leaders, comprising MNA Ghulam Dastgir Rajar, MPA Qazi Shamsuddin Rajar, ex-MPA Pir Bux Junejo and District Nazim Faqir Maghan Mangrio following continuous raids in the localities populated by Rajar and Mangria communities met the PML-F MNA Pir Sadaruddin Shah Rashidi at Kingri House Karachi and apprised him of the prevailing tense situation and alleged victimisation.
