HYDERABAD, Jan 7: Instead of distribution of state land among landless peasants and deserving women as announced by the government, the land is being distributed among feudal elements.

This was alleged by Sindh Hari Tehrik leader Farid Kalhoro at a meeting of the central committee of the organisation here on Tuesday. He said that poor tillers were living in abject poverty and vocal peasants were being implicated in false cases by feudal elements.

The meeting demanded that artificial shortage of fertiliser be eliminated and it be made available to small growers at subsidised rates.

It demanded that the auction of Sindh’s resources be stopped forthwith and state land be distributed among landless peasants without any discrimination.

The meeting constituted a seven-member committee to organise lecture programmes and educational seminars to impart training to peasants.

The meeting deplored that no attention was being paid to the education of peasants’ children and stressed the need for motivating peasants to get their children educated.

The meeting also decided to establish a library at the Awami House here for training and educating peasants and their children.

STP: Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party chairman Dr Qadir Magsi has condemned Israeli attacks in Gaza, resulting in the massacre of innocent children and Palestinian people.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, he said the attacks on schools, hospitals and children were nothing short of war crimes.
