SWABI, Jan 7: A trivial issue took the lives of two brothers and another person in the

Yar Hussain village of the

Chota Lahor tehsil late Tuesday night.

Police said two people had died on the spot and one, Sultan, had been seriously injured, who was taken to hospital where he died on Wednesday.

However, before succumbing to his injuries, Sultan told police that they were sitting in the hujra of Sawar Khan when Niaz-ud-Din, Inam-ud-Din, Mukhtiar-ud-Din, Khaista Din and Zahir Din came there and allegedly opened fire on them.

As a result, he said, his brother Raiz and Gul Roz Khan were killed and he was injured. He said that after the incident, the accused continued firing in the air and escaped.

The reason behind the incident is said to be a minor issue.

JOURNALISTS’ UNION: Mohammad Ali Juhar and Asad Zaman were elected as president and general secretary, respectively, of the Ghandahra Union of Journalists here on Wednesday.

The election was held in the district office and all the members of the union cast their votes.

The other office-bearers are: Rangaz Khan, senior vice-president; Inayatullah Gohati, vice-president; Usman Ghani Arif, joint secretary first; Dr Iftikhar Ali Fagar, joint secretary second; Gul Bacha, finance secretary; Tauheed Tanha, press secretary; and Zafar Iqbal, office secretary.

A Rehbar Committee comprising Arif Sarhadi, Mohammad Farooq, Amjid Ali and Muqaddam Khan was also constituted, which would supervise activities of the office-bearers.
