Rs1.6bn for three model burn units

LAHORE, Jan 5: The Punjab government is to establish three model burn units in Faisalabad, Multan and Lahore at a cost of Rs1.6 billion.

The burn centre of Faisalabad is being established at Allied Hospital with an expenditure of Rs478 million, with bed strength of 55. In Multan, the centre at Nishtar Hospital (also with bed strength of 55) will cost Rs392 million. In Lahore, the unit will be established at an amount of Rs892 million, with 65 beds.

According to government officials, the burn centres would provide comprehensive emergency services to burn patients. An early intensive management facility will also be provided in the ICU and acute management for early healing.

These burn units will ensure complete rehabilitation of burn victims to enable them to reintegrate into society with the help of a multi-disciplinary therapeutic approach.
