KARACHI, Jan 4: The girls’ football team from Jamshoro beat their opponents from Hyderabad 2-0 on penalties in the exhibition match at the Qasimabad Stadium, Hyderabad, on Sunday.

The match was staged by the Sindh Women’s Football Association (SWFA)’s organising committee.

The purpose of the match was to carry out final selection for the Sindh team that will take on Balochistan in the three-match series, starting here from Jan 21.

Jamshoro won the match on shootouts after both sides failed to score during regulation time.

At the conclusion, the selection committee comprising AFC Aid-27 Coach Hasan Baloch, SWFA Secretary-general Sadia Sheikh and Regional Coordinator Ayesha Erum announced the names of eight players selected for the Sindh team.

Anila Mahwesh, Maria Iqbal, Lubna Naaz, Raheela Mushtaq and Farzana Akram were picked from the Jamshoro squad while Saba Rafique, Hina Rafique and Shaista Khan were chosen from Hyderabad.—Sports Reporter
