SHIKARPUR, Jan 3: A man was killed in an exchange of fire between villagers and bandits in Ilyas Odho village in the limits of the Garhi Yasin police station late on Friday night.

Police said that some bandits barged into the house of Khadim Odho. The inmates of the house woke up and offered resistance on which the armed men opened fire.

In the meantime, the neighbours also reached the spot and retaliated by opening fire on the bandits. As a result of the firing, one of the armed men identified as Abdul Rasheed Kakepoto 37, was killed on the spot, while his other accomplices managed to escape.

Garhi Yasin police have registered a case and handed over the body of the deceased to his relatives after autopsy.
