HYDERABAD, Jan 3: A young doctor doing his post-graduation from the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Dr Abdul Hadi Memon, is reported to have gone missing four days back amidst denial by his family that he has been kidnapped.
Dr Memon had been performing his duties in Liaquat University Hospital’s paediatrics ward until recently. It was only on Saturday that when he didn’t turn up in hospital for few days his close friends made queries about his continued absence.
He hails from Thatta district and in Hyderabad he is temporarily residing in a flat in Gari Khata along with two other friends. His two mobile phone numbers remained switched off and he himself also didn’t make any contact with his friends in the hospital.
When his friends checked him at his flat, they were informed by Memon’s friends there that he didn’t return from hospital. Reports said that the family of Memon was approached in Thatta by his friends and they gave unsatisfactory replies regarding his absence. The family told the friends that there was some land dispute and they did not want to make it public.
“Please don’t disturb us anymore. Hadi will join you people in one or two weeks. There is a dispute in our home. I can assure you he is fine. There is no problem but please don’t disturb us”, said Dr Memon’s brother when he was contacted over his cellphone. He hung up the phone without even disclosing his name. No formal complaint with the Hyderabad police so far has been lodged.
