SUKKUR, Jan 3: Four people, including a chieftain of Solangi clan were killed in an attack allegedly by their rivals and a teenaged girl was killed and one suffered injuries in clashes that erupted between Solangi and Kosh tribesmen after the chieftain’s killing in the limits of Khambra police station near Ubauro on Saturday.
Reports reaching here said that Solangi chieftain Sardar Aslam Khan, his friend Mukhi Lachho Ram and guards Qabil Solangi and Mohammad Soomar Mirani were going in a car to Ubauro when a group of armed men believed to be Kosh ambushed the car and killed them all on the spot. The assailants set the car on fire before fleeing. The chieftain’s killing led to exchange of fire between Kosh and Solangi clansmen, in which a teenaged girl Shahnaz Solangi was killed and Asghar Kosh was injured.
Tension is mounting in the area as firing between the clansmen continued till filing of this report while heavy contingents of police have cordoned off the area to prevent the bloodshed escalating further.
Two Kosh men were killed in an encounter with Machko police four months ago and the Kosh had put their blame on the Solangi chieftain. Area people believed Aslam Khan’s murder was an offshoot of this dispute.
