JI rally against Israeli attacks

Published January 3, 2009

LAHORE, Jan 2: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) activists took out a protest rally on The Mall here on Friday against Israeli attacks on Palestinians.

The protesters, led by Liaqat Baloch, Farid Piracha and Amirul Azeem, marched from Regal Chowk to Faisal Chowk, chanting slogans against Israel, India and the United States.

Addressing the demonstrators, speakers criticised the rulers for allegedly advancing the agenda of Jews and Hindus by not activating the fora of OIC and Arab League to take a joint line against the Israeli attacks.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the JI central consultative body (shoora) demanded the UN and international community take immediate notice of Indian terrorism in occupied Kashmir and help the Kashmiri people attain their right of self-determination. A resolution adopted unanimously by the body called upon the nation to express solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren on Feb 5. — Staff Reporter
