Large drug haul in Balochistan

QUETTA, Dec 31: About 2,630 kilograms of drugs were seized in three operations along the Pak-Afghan border in Chagai, Gwadar and the Yaro area in Pishin district

A joint team comprising Anti-Narcotics Force and Customs personnel seized 1,700kgs of morphine in Chagai and 300kgs of hashish and 40kgs of opium in Gwadar and 590kgs of hashish in Pishin.

According to sources, the ANF made the seizures after exchange of fire with smugglers who escaped across the border, leaving the contraband behind.

“The cost of the seized drugs in the international market is estimated to be Rs4 billion,” a senior ANF official said.
