Doctor, his gunman killed by rivals

SHEIKHUPURA, Dec 29: Two persons, including a doctor, were shot dead while another injured on Hiran Minar Road on Monday morning.

Dr Talat Yaqoob along with gunman Shahbaz and a friend was on way to his clinic in Karryal village, some 20km away from the city, when his rivals namely Tariq, Zaman, Farman and Saeed opened fire on them. The doctor and the gunman died instantly, while his friend sustained serious bullet injuries and was taken to hospital.

Following the incident, District Police Officer Zaeem Iqbal accompanied by the SP investigation and the city DSP reached the spot and ordered the Sadar police to arrest the killers at the earliest.

ARRESTED: Nankana DPO Nasir Akbar claimed on Monday that the Sangla Sadar police had traced the four highwaymen who had murdered a landlord, Asad Riaz, of Chorn Mughlan village some time back and recovered his motorcycle snatched by them.

Those arrested included Munir, Iqbal and Kamran.
