Bomb hoax at Gymkhana

Published December 28, 2008

LAHORE, Dec 27: A hoax bomb call at the parking lot of the Gymkhana Club on The Mall on Saturday created panic among the visitors and staff, police said.

Civil Lines Division SP Sohail Akhtar Sokhaira told Dawn that an unidentified caller informed the club administration after 2pm that a bomb had been planted in a car parked in the area reserved for parking.

He said the Bomb Disposal Squad and Racecourse police reached the scene, closed the club for visitors and parking and begun a search for the suspected vehicle. After one-and-half-an-hour search, the bomb disposal squad cleared the parking lot. The SP said a case would be registered on the application of the club administration. — Staff Reporter
