LAHORE, Dec 27: The driver and helper in a truck were injured when their vehicle was hit by the locomotive of Awam Express at a level crossing between Kahna Kacha and Kot Lakhpat railway stations on Saturday.

Railways Lahore Divisional Superintendent Mubeenuddin told this reporter that the driver of the truck laden with bananas attempted to cross the track at 10.35am when the Lahore-bound Khyber Mail (13-Up) was coming. The rear wheels of the truck stuck in the track and it was hit by the locomotive. The truck driver and his helper were injured, but all passengers of the train remained unhurt, said the DS.

The track was cleared by 1pm after which the rail traffic resumed, maintained Mubeenuddin.
