HARARE (Zimbabwe), Dec 19: Batsman Malcolm Waller and wicket-keeper Forster Mutizwa were the only rookies selected on Friday in Zimbabwe’s squad for the one-day tour of Bangladesh in January.

Zimbabwe play a warm-up match against an academy team from Jan 2 to 6 before taking on Bangladesh in three One-day Internationals in Mirpur on Jan 19, 21 and 23.

The 24-year-old Waller is the son of former Zimbabwe international Andy Waller, who was at the 1987, 1992 and 1996 World Cups and also played two Tests and 39 ODIs.

Malcolm Waller is more suited to cricket’s shorter version, averaging 21.33 from nine Zimbabwe ‘A’ limited-overs appearances. He has also played three domestic first-class matches.

Former captain Tatenda Taibu has also been selected despite being in the middle of a dispute with Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC), which was recently ordered by a Harare court to open its books following claims by Taibu that assault charges he is facing are a part of a strategy to silence him for questioning the management of funds.
