GCCI plea for gas supply

Published December 19, 2008

GUJRANWALA, Dec 18: The Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry has opposed gas suspension to industries by the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).

It said that all CNG stations should rather be closed to restore gas supply to industrial units which employed more workforce.

At a meeting held here on Thursday, chamber president Muhammad Akram Badsha and vice-President Malik Zaheerul Haq said that exporters were sustaining huge losses as they could not meet orders.

They said that hundreds of workers had been rendered jobless due to the closure of industrial units throughout the division.
